Function of the protein in oral and tooth development
Liao et al., (2012) reported mutation in the coiled-coil domain-containing 154 (CCDC154), where delection of ~5 kb sequence was linked to the mouse mutant, "new toothless" (ntl). The mutant mice showed absence of bone resorption, lack of tooth eruption and odontoma-like proliferation near the ends of incisors (Lu et al., 2009).
