Function of the protein in oral and tooth development

Using immunohistochemistry Xie et al., (2015) reported the expression of extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer (EMMPRIN) in ameloblasts and odontoblasts during the middle and late stages of tooth germ development. The results indicates that EMMPRIN may play a critical role in the processing and maturation of the dental matrix (Xie et al., 2015) .
